Zero alcohol, Zero freedom taken away
I’m a Certified Coach using science-based methodology and Affective Liminal Psychology (ALP). Outside my coaching persona, I’m also a Spanish-English sworn translator and an author.
Being a mum is great but also hard work. Being a working mum is stressful and exhausting and that’s why I was tricked into thinking that wine could help me cope with the overwhelming stress and tiredness in the evenings. How wrong I was. It was only making it all harder and adding a good dose of anxiety to the mix and also robbing me of so many unrecoverable memories of the time spent with my kids.
And then there’s being a published author too, which comes with a great deal of pride, satisfaction and joy, but also with a tide of fears, angst and the crippling imposter syndrome. I thought alcohol would help me deal with that too. Wrong again. It was only adding anxiety and debilitating me. Self-doubt and feeling like a fraud can spread to so many areas in our life and alcohol certainly doesn’t help, quite the opposite.
Now I’m free of alcohol and I’ve taken back control, I’ve found my inner strength and peace to tackle obstacles, to face emotions I misguidedly tried burying and appreciate those small moments of joy that make all the difference in the everyday routines. I’ve become me again and recovered my joy for life and connection with my family and friends.
I am now fully present and clear-minded to see that alcohol was only aggravating my anxiety and fears, it was squashing my confidence.
